"Feel the Bern II"

I have called Bernie the "crazy uncle" and the "old man" but after badly beating Hillary in the caucuses in Alaska, Washington, and Hawaii this past weekend this geezer is starting to give Hillary some 'goose bumps'. Even Bill is probably getting nervous that his hopes of going back to the White House with all those young beautiful interns, may not happen.

Bernie probably doesn't have a chance to actually win the nomination since the DNC has quietly made it clear that he will never be their candidate, but the guy is a money raising machine. He has out-raised Hillary the past two months and since his wins Saturday he has pulled in another $4 million. It's hard to believe all this money is coming from his hard core young millennium followers for the simple reason; they don't have any money because they can't get jobs! Could all this money be coming from their parents? If you were a parent trying to figure out how to come up with $100K to send your child through college would not the siren song from Bernie of "free college" be very enticing?

It is so easy to be a Democrat running for office, you don't have to win the battle of ideas, you just offer "free stuff"; it's quite simple actually. But I have news for those that think Hillary (or Bernie if he pulls off a miracle) wins the election: "The free stuff ain't gonna happen". This country will have a debt of $20 trillion by the time the next President is inaugurated which means every penny we spend will be borrowed.

It's time the voters in this country understand that simple point...we are out of money and at some point we have to face up to it. And we cannot solve the problem by "cutting expenses", this economy has to start booming again with more people working and paying taxes otherwise we will become Europe with zero growth and chronic unemployment.

Socialism's failures are so well documented it's still hard for me to believe it is a system that can be sold to voters,

Socialism won't happen in America Chuck. It's good to have the specter of Socialism as an offsetting influence though.

The Nighthawk statement has to go down as one of the most ignorant comments that I have ever read. Is Mr. Johnston so uninformed that he doesn’t recognize that we have had seven and a half years of socialism under Obama that has essentially bankrupt America? I wonder what utopian dream world the Nighthawk flies around in. Chuck offers a plausible solution to our economic malaise and Mr. Johnston offer a stupid platitude in response.

OK gents, let's keep the comments civil.

No problem Chuck, I'm done with Bob. Something is eating him up inside. Let's hope he deals with it because life is too short to deal with irrational people at our age.

Hum, you are quite right, John. After posting my rather insulting comment, I regretted sending it. Perhaps it would have been more appropriate for me to post, "John, I don't understand your comment in terms of offsetting influence." I fully understand what Socialism is. Can you explain what you are trying to say with your comment that spun me up?

Keep in mind that I have only recently been reading the Chuckie D blog, so the relationship between you and Chuck is not within my knowledge. My perspective is conservative and I tend to be more of a cynic than a great sage. There is no aspect of liberalism or modern multiculturalism that I can embrace or respect.

If you don't remember who I am from years ago, my employee number at Hydro Products was 12. In terms of age, I am right up there with your and Chuck.

Please let me know if my counterpoint on the Chuckie D blog is too offensive, and if so, I will discontinue my involvement.

John, by chance I just read your comments on the bottom of Chuck’s blog labeled “Trump Traumatizes” on March 25th. If I had read that before the current exchange, I would probably not have come across like such a jerk, but I don’t write to make friends or please anyone.

After thinking about the political situation for maybe 30 seconds, it would appear that we are fairly close in terms of the upcoming election. Personally, I am not in favor of any of the candidates. Trump is the populist candidate who doesn’t know how our government works. There is a big difference between running a large real estate development company and the federal government. With the establishment Republicans and every Democrat working against a possible Trump presidency, nothing would get accomplished with the United States falling deeper into the fiscal abyss and social chaos. A brokered Republican Convention that dumps Trump will undoubtedly result in Trump doing a Ross Perot style 3rd party run that will guarantee Hillary’s election and perhaps the demise of the Republican Party, as we know it today. The popular vote will not go to Cruz for many reasons, so his possible candidacy, like a brokered convention, will put a Democrat in the White House. The arithmetic indicates that Bernie cannot catch Hillary.

So, I understand that you plan to take some coursework on creative writing and possible a class on woodworking at the UNM. For your information, I served in the Air Force between 1960 – 1964 and I attended San Diego State when I got out with some graduate level classes at UCSD in the seventies, although I didn’t complete a Master’s Degree. I have been active in creative writing for some years now with some 25 full-length fiction novels. I had about 15 of them on the Amazon Kindle Books listing for a couple of years. I pulled most of them recently to do some revisions. I do my own editing and cover designs using the Adobe Creative Suite. You can get my email address from Chuck if you have any interest in having your future work read and evaluated.

No problem Bob. I really don't let things like this get under my skin. I didn't think our interaction belonged on Chicks Blog, which both his family and a number of our mutual friends read. Chuck can send you my email address and we can take thinss offline, where we can be as caustic or amicable as we choose.

That is CHUCK'S Blog.......not Chicks Blog.......damn word completion features get me regularly. I wonder if wars will be started, marriages ended, or other social catastrophes initiated by that word processing feature.

Glad you gents have smoothed things over, but don't leave the Blog I enjoy your comments. Keep in mind I do this Blog for fun, quite often inspired by my evening martini. I am not an authority on anything political except my own personal philosophy which is somewhere to the right of Atilla the Hun (kidding).

Like Bob I am not in favor of any of the candidates and agree with him on one thing, I would prefer Cruz over Trump but not sure he could get elected. The wild card with Trump would be his ability to pull in a lot of democratic votes. There are many Democrats that do not like Hillary and are unhappy over their job situation in this dismal economy, and also concerned about security. I don't think those disaffected democrats are reflected in most of the polls. But no matter what happens, I am an "anyone but Hillary" voter.
